About Me

Born and raised in Southern California, we always had pets growing up. I had grown fond of birds, cats, dogs, lizards, and wildlife. As a young spring chick, yes, that is right! :)- I had a pet dove for 15 years. My sweet Sunshine who grew up with me as a baby who had fallen out of his nest, we raised him throughout my Jr. High School years and into my early 20’s.

Sunshine, used to hang out with me in my room and watch Dawson’s Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and all my shows. We would sing Mariah Carey songs and he would always coo along. My bundle of joy would always fly and land on my head or wherever he could find a spot near me, and since he was free to roam about, it was always fun watching him explore.

In his final years, he battled an illness I believe that the Veterinarians did not know much about but especially because they didn’t specialize in avian wellness. I would take him in for weekly steroid injections and then out to lunch, a table for 2 at Z-Tejas. The cornbread was a hit with my boy! He slept right by my side for quite some time because he could no longer use his legs and eventually, one evening while we were looking through a photo album and watching TV, he passed away peacefully on my chest. My heart was shattered, and I still miss my special feathered friend more than you will ever know. When Sunshine’s life ended in 2001, I said I would try to find another sweet bird, I never did. He was irreplaceable.

I would later take interest in the fashion industry, modeling, and frivolous things that I eventually lost sight of what truly mattered in life and It would take the lockdown over 20 years later for me to come back to earth. Discovering my backyard with all my newfound time and all the little creatures that frequently visit. I would find joy, solace, and a renewed love for birds.

It was actually a special little House Finch I named “Little Girl” who inspired me to create this site and share my stories. She was my little angel and I miss her little flutter as she would come to greet me always with a smile. Her sweet little spirit lives on in our yard and I think of her everyday as I’m caring for her brothers and sisters. I love her with all my heart.

So while I find my work to be rewarding, at the end of the day, my heart is in helping birds thrive in the world. This is what I believe matters most for my life. After all, birds have the power to lift us up from the dark, bring joy, laughter, and love to our lives. All these special little creations tell a different story, and I am here to share it with you. It is also my purpose to create awareness about the issues that affect our many bird species and what we can do to help keep them safe for our future generations to come.
