Mockingbird!

I’m thrilled to say these are all my little Mockingbird. He’s such a good boy and he had been spending a lot of time in the yard till recent. He was even flying up to the sliding door to let me know he was ready for his worms but I relocated his bowl so that he would not approach the door anymore. My concern was a Sharpie that was starting to stalk my yard from a tree outside the yard. It’s a clear shot to the door and that made me nervous. It only took a few days but Mockingbird knows his bowl is under a tree hidden behind the tomato plants for his safety. Also, Now he’s off building nest sites and finding a mate I assume. I see him about once a day if that, for his feeding and then he’s off. Mockingbird has his own bowl but used to be very territorial with my Abert’s Towhees and the White Crowned Sparrows. Now he knows that he has his own area and still guards the yard from intruders such as the American Robin and random Mockingbirds he has chased off.

I was sad at first that he started limiting his time here but now I prefer that he does not spend too much time in the yard because it’s a very open space and I’ve seen too many predators hovering in the area. I want him to be safe out there and I’m sure he is. I hope that he finds a great partner and they bring their little ones here someday.
