From brunch to happy hour…

Every morning I create a variety of bird seed and fruit, herbs or veggie offerings for my backyard birds. By about 1:30 or so, it’s usually picked through or wiped clean, depending on who my guests were. So between 1:30 and 2, I like to refresh their food and water. I usually start with washing the water bowls clean and making sure they are disinfected with antibacterial dish soap and maybe a little bleach. My birds drink bottled water for the most part. They even prefer to bathe in it so the changing may take place 4-5 times a day.

Most importantly is sanitizing the food and water bowls and making a new batch of food for your backyard bird happy hour. Your birds will be energized and ready for the party to continue.

Happy hour usually runs till about 5pm as they like to head home to their nests before sunset. With the exception of the Mockingbird. These party animals are just getting warmed up. By 6pm they will visit our water bowls . Actually 5pm now that time has changed. They need to freshen their vocal chords and prepare for their one man band performances in the hopes of securing a mating partner. So you will quickly learn who your bachelors are.
